W-KUBS Committees

The Wharton Korea Undergraduate Business Society is run through a set of committees that work together to support the organization’s operations, programming, and community. These committees include Internal Relations, External Relations, Business Analysis, Consulting, Marketing, Professional Development, Business Black Box and Upperclassmen Mentorship. Each committee focuses on a specific area — from strengthening member engagement and building partnerships to producing analytical projects, consulting work and professional resources for members. By collaborating closely across these functions, the committees collectively ensure that KUBS operates smoothly while providing meaningful academic, professional and community-building opportunities for its members and alumni.

Internal Relations

The Internal Relations committee acts as a hub for the organization as a whole. Our main priority involves promoting camaraderie across committees, groups, and grades. Every month, we plan 2-3 social events for the club for this purpose. Whether it be casual excursions to Center City, study sessions, or formals, our committee is in charge of organizing these events and keeping our professional society, well, fun.  In addition, we host other initiatives to keep people connected. For example, every year we run a big/little program and monthly dinners with board members. If you’re joining Internal Relations, you will really be at the center of our club and gain experience in event planning and community management while being uniquely positioned to contribute to W-KUBS in a creative manner.

EXternal Relations

The External Relations committee is responsible for representing W-KUBS to and maintaining the club’s relationships with the broader Penn community as well as the business world as a whole. As the primary event planning committee within the club, External Relations oversees the ideation, planning, and execution of premier W-KUBS events such as career treks, speaker events, and MBA networking sessions, which provide unique opportunities for members to grow professionally. Overall, the goal of the committee is to organize useful and fun events while connecting members to the robust W-KUBS alumni and Korean American professional networks, primarily in financial services.

Business analysis

The Business Analysis committee is a unique part of W-KUBS in that we engage in researching and analyzing diverse finance-related materials. Our aim is to foster learning about the global economy and financial markets both inside and outside of W-KUBS. Some of our core projects include facilitating weekly educational meetings where members would learn metrics outside of Wharton’s curriculum and writing equity pitch reports for Korean companies, allowing our members to get a first-hand experience in company valuation, DCF models, and the distinctive features of Korean industries. To solidify our learning, we encourage members to participate in stock pitch competitions.

The Marketing Committee serves as the bridge between W-KUBS and the broader campus and community. Its core mission is to raise awareness and visibility of the club and its activities both within Penn and beyond. Internally, the team keeps members informed and educated about key marketing principles through digital communications, while also preparing for marketing and design competitions to build creative skills and foster collaboration. Externally, it leads creative promotional efforts, including social media campaigns, event branding, and website management, to spotlight W-KUBS initiatives and engage a wider audience.

professional development

The Professional Development Committee is W-KUBS’s pre-professional hub, designed to empower students as they transition into their collegiate and professional journeys. The committee aims to bridge knowledge gaps and correct common inefficiencies that students face when navigating both early career exploration and future workplace readiness. Throughout the year, PD hosts a wide range of high-impact events, including: resume and cover letter workshops; panels featuring Wharton MBAs and industry professionals; and committee social outings/networking events. In addition, students in PD will contribute to and maintain a working internship database for finance, consulting, and technology opportunities, as a shared resource for compiling firm-specific insights.

The BBB committee is in charge of coordinating the annual Business Black Box (BBB) Case Competition. The BBB Case Competition is a student-run event that aims to provide an exciting and constructive case study opportunity to high school students in Korea. Every year, we partner with a renowned Korean company for the participants to be challenged to assess real-life issues the company is facing. Our members will be able to develop strong various skills, including communication, negotiation, and multitasking skills through writing case study problems, creating a website and online marketing content, and recruiting qualified judges and Penn student mentors.
