Mike Joo is the Managing Director of the Global Head of FX and Rates and the former Chief Operating Officer for Global Markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mr. Joo joined the company in 2006 as Head of Asia Debt Capital Markets, based in Hong Kong. Previously, he spent nearly ten years at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong and Korea. At Credit Suisse, he was Head of Asia Debt Capital Markets and was responsible for investment banking, M&A and derivatives coverage in Korea. Mr. Joo began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York. Mr. Joo has been involved in numerous advisory and financing projects for the Korean government and received various distinctions for his contributions during the Asian financial crisis. He was recently selected as an “Asia 21 Fellow” responsible for various initiatives on global affairs in conjunction with the Asia Society. Mr. Joo also serves on the Board of Directors for the Korea Finance Society. Mr. Joo holds a bachelor of science from MIT.
Jake Hong is an Investment Banking Associate for Financial Institutions Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mr. Hong joined the New York office in 2013. Previously, he spent two years as an Analyst for Asia Debt Capital Markets at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong. Additionally, he served as an Associate for Asia Debt Capital Markets at ING in Hong Kong and as a Summer Associate for Equity Capital Markets at Goldman Sachs in New York.Mr. Hong has also co-produced a solo rap album called Mr. Hong LP and a publication titled, (랩하는 뱅커의 Wharton MBA) Rapping Banker’s Wharton MBA. Mr. Hong holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Yonsei University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
